Oldcastle Materials companies’ excellence has been recognized by several national organizations. Below are some recent awards that these companies have earned.

  • The Wildlife Habitat Council’s 2015 Wings over Wetlands Award finalist, Oldcastle Materials-The Shelly Company's Ostrander Wildlife Site
  • 2014 Larry H. Lemon Awards (for 10 highest-scoring projects submitted for a Quality in Construction Awards in General Paving), presented by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) to The Shelly Company and Pennsy Supply Company. Six out of these 10 prestigious awards were won by Oldcastle Materials projects
  • 2014 NAPA Diamond Achievement Awards, presented to 158 Oldcastle Materials facilities; 69 NAPA Diamond Quality awards; 66 NAPA Diamond Paving awards; 46 NAPA Diamond Sustainability awards
  • NSSGA National Stars of Excellence Award (for longest duration without a reportable injury), presented to Tilcon Connecticut's Southington Sand and Pit
  • NSSGA Excellence in Community Relations Award (for community involvement and support activities), presented to Stoneco of Michigan's 100th Street facility
  • 2014 Excellence in Quality Awards: Category B (annual production from 25,000 to 1 million cubic yards), presented by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) to Preferred Materials, Inc., Tennessee Region
  • 2013 Sheldon G. Hayes Award (for highest-quality asphalt pavement project in the United States), presented by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) to APAC Missouri in Jasper County, Missouri; project by The Shelly Company in Thornville, Ohio, among the finalists
  • 2013 NAPA Diamond Achievement awards, presented to 205 Oldcastle Materials facilities; 62 NAPA Diamond Quality awards; five Diamond Paving awards; and 60 Quality in Construction Awards
  • NAPA Asphalt Ambassador Commendation (for leadership and excellence in grass-roots activities to strengthen the asphalt pavement industry) presented to Mark Snyder, president of the Mid-Atlantic Region within the Oldcastle Materials Mid-Atlantic Division
  • Safety, Environmental, and Community Relations Excellence Award gold award in the safety category, presented by the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) to Tilcon Connecticut’s Southington Sand and Gravel; gold award in the environmental category presented to Tilcon New Jersey’s Mount Hope Quarry; gold awards in the community relations category presented to The Shelly Company’s Stoneco Inc. Scott Quarry and Stoneco Inc. Auglaize Quarry, Tilcon New Jersey’s Oxford Quarry, and Tilcon New York’s Haverstraw Quarry; silver award in community relations presented to Stoneco of Michigan’s Denniston Quarry; bronze awards in environmental presented to Stoneco of Michigan’s Maybee Quarry, Ottawa Lake Quarry, and Newport Quarry; bronze awards in community relations presented to Stoneco of Michigan’s Maybee Quarry and Ottawa Lake Quarry; and bronze Safety Sterling Award in safety presented to Boxley Materials Co., an Oldcastle Materials joint venture in Blue Ridge, Virginia
  • NSSGA Two Stars of Excellence Award (for earning two gold awards in the last five years) presented to Tilcon New Jersey’s Mount Hope Quarry 
  • NSSGA Grassroots Coordinator of the Year presented to John Hay, Oldcastle senior vice president of government relations and corporate communications; and Grassroots Activist of the Year presented to Ryan Lindsey, vice president of government relations for the Texas Region
  • 2013 Excellence in Quality Awards: Category B (annual production from 250,000 to 1 million cubic yards), presented by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) to Preferred Materials, Inc., in Bonita Springs, Florida; and Category C (annual production less than 250,000 cubic yards) to Western Rock Products in St. George, Utah
  • The Wildlife Habitat Council’s 2013 Conservation Education Award finalist, Oldcastle Materials (one of three nationwide); Corporate Lands for Learning of the Year presented to The Shelly Company’s Dresden Wildlife Habitat Site; and 2013 Prairies for Tomorrow award presented by the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever organization to The Shelly Company’s Ostrander Wildlife Habitat Site 
  • 2012 Sheldon G. Hayes Award (for highest-quality asphalt pavement project in the United States), presented by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) to The Shelly Company in Thornville, Ohio
  • 2012 NAPA Diamond Achievement awards, presented to 51 Oldcastle Materials facilities; 22 NAPA Diamond Quality awards; six Diamond Paving awards; and 38 Quality in Construction Awards
  • Safety, Environmental, and Community Relations Excellence Award gold award in the safety category, presented by the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association (NSSGA) to Tilcon Connecticut’s Southington Sand and Gravel; silver awards in community relations presented to Tilcon New Jersey’s Oxford Quarry and Tilcon New York’s Haverstraw Quarry; silver award in environmental presented to Tilcon New Jersey’s Mt. Hope Quarry; and eight bronze awards (one community relations and seven safety) presented to facilities operated by Stoneco of Michigan, Pike Industries, Inc., and The Shelly Company
  • 2013 PRIDE Awards, presented by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation to Tilcon New York’s community involvement program and The Shelly Company’s “rolling billboard” themed truck program
  • 2012 Excellence in Quality Awards: Category A (annual production exceeding 1 million cubic yards), presented by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) to Jack B. Parson Companies in Ogden, Utah; Category B (annual production from 250,000 to 1 million cubic yards) to Preferred Materials, Inc., in Bonita Springs, Florida; and Category C (annual production less than 250,000 cubic yards) to Western Rock Products in St. George, Utah
  • 2012 Concrete Excellence Awards, presented by the Montana Contractors’ Association to Helena Sand & Gravel in residential decorative category and in industrial/commercial (less than $1 million) category; 2012 Environmental Excellence Award in the heavy/industrial projects category
