Pioneer Materials began remote batching
its Delmar, Md., plant in 2010 to increase
efficiency. The upgraded, state-of-the-art
system is operated from Pioneer’s
Cheswold, Del., facility.
The batching computer has been upgraded
to a more user-friendly interface and
features a virtual manual panel that allows
for manual intervention, if needed, and
batching to tolerance vs. targeted weights.
The new technology will improve plant
performance, simplify concrete production
and ultimately save the company money.
Batching is the process of automatically
loading concrete materials from plant to
truck. The practice involves maximizing
production by operating two locations simultaneously at plants that are not running at 100 percent
capacity. Remote batch has performed extremely well for Pioneer Materials and is Oldcastle’s first
installation in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
